Star Wars Date Night

My husband loves Star Wars. Like, I mean, LOVES it! He knows everything there is to know about each of the movies, has read and owns all of the books, owns apparel, legos, you name it, he has it. So with all the hype for the new movie release in December, we have been in great anticipation for it’s arrival!

So when iTunes finally released the movies two weeks ago, I immediately started thinking of ways to surprise my husband with a Star Wars date night. I started searching Pinterest and other Star Wars websites and came up with some pretty good ideas.

I found a free star wars font here and used it to type and print my own signs. Then, trying to stick to our no-added-sugar diet, I was able to make the following foods for dinner and snacks:

  • Han Burgers (made with Trader Joe’s sprouted wheat bread instead of buns)
  • Vader Pataters (cheesy, yes, but definitely made my husband laugh!)
  • Yoda Ears
  • Endor Trail Mix (Go Raw Trek Mix from Trader Joe’s)
  • Thermal Detonators (from my coco-walnut snack balls recipe, rolled in unsweetened cocoa powder)

My husband had already purchased the movies the night before, so he knew we were going to have a movie marathon weekend, but the rest of it was a surprise. So when he came home from work Friday night, he found this on the door:

When he came inside, I had the star wars theme song playing, the movie ready to go, and made a cozy little spot on the floor  from our futon mattress, pillows and blankets, where we could cuddle and watch the movies together!

IMG_1544Date nights aren’t about the outcome, but just about going out of your way to spend some quality time with your spouse. In this case, I wanted to surprise my husband with something I know he loves, and he just appreciated the effort 🙂
